Love for the BCC

Travelers far and wide are singing our praises and we are delighted to share about it.

Just last week, our 38-room hotel, event venue, private social club and fine dining restaurant got a lovely nod in the Los Angeles Times.

Praised for our great location, stunning architecture and beautiful pool, the building is a sight to see and stay in.

And, you must treat yourself to a peek or swim in our indoor heated pool, exclusive only to hotel guests and club members.

The gem of a building, constructed in just eleven months by none other than famed architect Julia Morgan and is standing stately and strong, close to ninety years later.

Treat yourself to a stay in one of our cozy guestrooms, then wander through our public spaces and cap off your stay with lunch or dinner at Julia’s.

An unforgettable time awaits you.

“Best Hotel Pool” nomination

The Berkeley City Club pool has earned a nomination from USA Today for “Best Hotel Pool.”

We would love the opportunity for our beautiful, Julia Morgan-designed pool to win.

Aquatics Exercise is offered on Wednesdays from 4pm – 5pm and is $10/class for Club members and $15/class for non-members.

It is a great workout that is easy on the joints, low impact and great for toning.

Back into the routine at the Club is Tai Chi, led by instructor Quinn Walker.

Tai Chi is a great way to lower blood pressure, improve breathing and increase wellness while obtaining a state of calm and clarity.

Classes are offered the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 4pm and bookings are available on Eventbrite at only $10/class for Club members and $15/class for non-members.  Wear comfortable, loose clothing and enjoy the benefits of health, fun and martial arts.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our instructors.

Aquatics Exercise

Starting back up at the Club this week are Aquatics Exercise classes.

We would love to introduce you to Celia Ihne, the class instructor.

Celia has been teaching a variety of water exercise classes since 1990.

She found aquatic exercise to be very effective for herself, living with both arthritis and skeletal issues, and felt she could help others, although you don’t need to have an injury to benefit from these classes, which are great for all ages and fitness levels.

A warm up begins in the shallow end, then we move to into greater depths for strength and toning, then finish things up with stretching.

Celia has become certified by The YMCA, The Arthritis Foundation, The MS Society and by ACE as a personal trainer.

Her greatest reward is seeing growth, health benefits and lots of smiles from happy participants!
