If you find yourself at the Club looking for quiet moment, step away into one of our Courtyards.
Here is a peek into the West Courtyard. It is located off of the Drawing Room and is also visible as you climb the staircase to the Second floor. It is pretty magical.
We just love the flagstone and lush greenery.
Next up is the East Courtyard. It is easily visible from the main hallway and probably one of the most visited.
Chairs and a quiet bench perfectly invite a moment to yourself.
The last Courtyard is the North. It is all the way at the end of the main hallway, just after you pass the Pool Locker Room. Tucked away, it is usually the most quiet.
We hope you enjoyed this little roundup. Take a little time to explore them the next time you are at the Club.
Travelers far and wide are singing our praises and we are delighted to share about it.
Just last week, our 38-room hotel, event venue, private social club and fine dining restaurant got a lovely nod in the Los Angeles Times.
Praised for our great location, stunning architecture and beautiful pool, the building is a sight to see and stay in.
And, you must treat yourself to a peek or swim in our indoor heated pool, exclusive only to hotel guests and club members.
The gem of a building, constructed in just eleven months by none other than famed architect Julia Morgan and is standing stately and strong, close to ninety years later.

An unforgettable time awaits you.
Now that some nice weather is setting in, perhaps it is time to treat yourself to a fun activity.

Did you know that the Berkeley City Club partners with a non-profit organization called the Berkeley City Club Conservancy, who are dedicated to preserving our historic building and protecting the legacy of Julia Morgan, our talented architect?
Established in 1965, this group works tirelessly to help raise funds and ensure that our spaces are protected for many years to come.
In the coming months, keep posted for details on a lecture series they are doing to engage and inspire others on the topics of architecture, design and historic revitalization.

For all that have enjoyed our building, you know the special feeling the building provides.
It is majestic beauty that has been cherished for almost nine decades.
Originally constructed as a private women’s club in 1929, now both men and women enjoy the grandeur of our spaces and the privilege of a membership with us.
When I walked through the doors I felt a 10-lb weight lift from my shoulders (I hadn’t even known it was there!) Serenity and beauty, friendships old, possibly new – what could be better?”
Our members enjoy swimming in the waters of our pool, among countless other benefits.
Recently, a member reflected on the joys of swimming.
Floating on your back in the pool at Berkeley City Club, with the room’s arches bringing a crisp order to the roughly textured concrete walls, you feel as privileged as a Hearst. As a club member confides, with the air of one sharing a guilty pleasure: “When you have it all to yourself, it’s like you’re the princess in the pool.”
